What does it take to become an idol? Popular actor Ji Hyun Woo (Attack the Gas Station 2), who previously played an idol singer in the TV drama Over the Rainbow, stars in the hot new youth movie Mr. Idol.
Directed by Ra Hee Chan (Going By the Book), the movie follows the rise and struggles of an idol band. Real-life idol Jay Park, Jang Seo Won (Heartstrings), and Randy Kim complete the film's fictional boy band, Mr. Children, while Park Ye Jin (Head), Kim Su Ro (Vampire Cop Rocky), and Lim Won Hee (Dachimawa Lee) play music executives. Pop group U-Kiss and Nam Gyu Ri also make cameo appearances in Mr. Idol.
After a shocking tragedy on stage, rookie boy band Mr. Children and their producer Goo Joo (Park Ye Jin) go their separate ways.
Three years later, Goo Joo returns to Korea, and this time she's determined to resurrect Mr. Children on her own terms without big agency backing. She manages to get the old crew - Jio (Jay Park), Hyun Yi (Jang Seo Won), and Ricky (Randy Kim) - back together again, but Mr. Children still needs a new vocalist. Enter indie band singer Yoo Jin (Ji Hyun Woo), who's not so interested in joining a pop group.
Can the ragtag Mr. Children really transform into Mr. Idol?
