Winner of Best Film at the 48th Daejong Film Awards, The Front Line brings audiences to the final battlefield of the Korean War, the mad scramble for a small scrap of land of strategic significance. Another critical and commercial success for Secret Reunion director Jang Hoon, the gritty war movie is scripted by JSA author Park Sang Yeon, and shares similar themes to JSA about camaraderie among enemies at the North-South border. As in his previous films, Jang Hoon again excels at bringing out brotherhood and humanity amid the harsh reality of war and survival. Popular actors Ko Su (White Night) and Shin Ha Kyun (Thirst) star as lieutenants on the front line, along with a cast of soldiers that includes Ryu Seung Ryong (Battlefield Heroes), Ko Chang Seok (Rough Cut), Lee Je Hoon (Bleak Night), Ryu Seung Soo (Second Half), David Lee (Poetry), and lone actress Kim Ok Bin (Thirst), who holds her own as a North...

A ceasefire has been declared in the final days of the Korean War, but this only marks the beginning of an endless battle to capture strategic points that will determine the future border between the two Koreas. On the front line, South and North Korean battalions fight relentlessly over a small hill that changes hands between the two sides practically everyday. In the midst of the battle, a South Korean commander is found dead, indicating there may be a mole in the company. Sent to the front to investigate the matter, intelligence officer Kang Eun Pyo (Shin Ha Kyun) is surprised to find that his old friend Kim Soo Hyuk (Ko Su) is not only leading the troops, but a far different man than the weakling he once was. Soo Hyuk and his willful unit are a strange, rule-bending bunch, and Eun Pyo soon experiences himself the futile fighting and tacit amity between soldiers on the front line, caught in a deadly war of attrition as the days count down to ceasefire.
